E-learning is another mode of learning where there is no direct interaction between the students and the teacher(s). everything is done online. The teacher uploads teaching materials from which the students can get access to the site upon enrollment. An example of e-learning software is called Moodle, as an- open source community-based tools for learning. Many universities, with undergraduate, graduate, or even post graduate have used Moodle as an alternative mode of learning. It is important to note that Moodle can never replace the teacher; rather it is one way he or she uses to deliver his or he courses.
To run Moodle, first of all you have to visit the website. Browse the site to learn more about it. When you feel that it is your best choice, go and download it for FREE. Another software is called CourseLab. It is 100% free e-learning authoring tool. Visit the website if you think it is good and suitable for you. You can also download it and install it in your computer. Then you are free to use as one alternative to deliver your courses.
With respect to assessments, Question Writer (QW) is highly recommended. It can be used to create tests of different types. Upon being uploaded to your blog or web, the test can be directly accessed by the students. The students' responses are directly sent to the teacher's email for feedback purposes.
